Equality Objectives

Equality Objectives

The Governing Body and staff at St. Chad's CofE Primary School are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity and provision throughout our school community. This statement is underpinned by the Equalities Act 2010 replacing all existing legislation and statutory duties in relation to protected characteristics and equality.

St. Chad's is committed to providing an educational environment which recognises and celebrates diversity and removes barriers to individuals enabling them to realise their full potential.

Our Vision

Our school vision underpins this:

In the light of God, we care, we share, we laugh, we learn.

In Christ's light, we seek to educate, nurture and empower; supporting each individual to flourish academically, socially & spiritually. Christian values guide out commitment to ensure everyone is valued and respected as God's unique and special creation. May each child at St. Chad's know how precious they are in God's sight.

Our school vision is rooted in the bible passage:

Jesus said "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

The Equalities Act replaces a number of separate pieces of discrimination legislation and introduces a single Act which introduces 9 protected characteristics which are:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender re-assignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
  • Religion, belief or lack of religion/belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

Our Equality Objectives

  • ‍To continue to promote understanding and respect for diversity and equality
  • To ensure that the school promotes role models that young people positively identify with, who reflect and broaden the school’s diversity in terms of race, gender and disability
  • To ensure tolerance and respect towards individuals who identify with any of the protected characteristics
  • To monitor assessment and other data at regular intervals to ensure that children are not being disadvantaged by belonging to a protected group

For information on the progress we are making towards our equality objectives, please see our Equality Policy on our policies page.
