Science

At St Chad’s Primary, the Science curriculum is designed to inspire children to learn through first hand experiences, developing skills by working scientifically to experiment, solve problems and observe in order to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding of the world. We recognise the importance of discovery and the need to develop independent enquiring learners.

Science motivates pupils to explore the world around them and to change it for the better. Science helps pupils develop the skills to think critically, solve problems and make decisions. Practical experiments and investigations in science teach pupils the importance of accuracy and problem-solving. Science develops in pupils an attitude of respect for themselves, others and the world around them. Sustainable science teaches pupils about the important interaction between human activity and the environment and how we can make a positive impact. As such, the Science curriculum recognises each child’s prior learning and provides a safe, inspiring and nurturing environment in which children can challenge themselves to develop a deep, nonbiased, well-rounded understanding of scientific study
